State Cross Country

Laura ran in the NY state cross country meet yesterday at Van Cortland Park in The Bronx. It was a fun day. As you can tell from the photos her team is really small, She is the only girl. It is quite an achievement that they qualified to run.

It's the end of October, 2021

Two sunny days in a row make it very hard to work.

This is my favorite spot in Mt. Hope. If you enlarge the picture, you will see that the Coffin family headstone is right behind that of the Graves family.

Mom and I went to Speculator for Helen's 98th birthday. Not a typo--ninety-eight. We stopped as a scenic view spot I have always meant to stop at but never have until now. Very scenic.

Helen--beautiful then, beautiful now.

Some Good Things

Elvira, Cristina's daughter, graduated from  the University of Turin.

They are all currently living in Umbria. Their business is going well.  Tourism has started up again in Italy. Cristina and Piero had to change a few things. No more dinners with the guests and some logistical changes so that there is plenty of time between one guest going and another arriving.

The Met is open again. As you can see its pretty empty, This is both wonderful and sad.

Apart from decreased traffic and everyone wearing a mask, life in NYC feels pretty normal.

We are all doing well. Everyone is back at school.  Both Chiara and Laura have actually been going to to the school itself. while Nick and Chandran have been doing it remotely.

I have also started up again with my Bharatanatyam dance classes. This is also done remotely.

After watching The Social Dilemma on Netflix. I have decided to not go on facebook. I haven't quite reached the point of deleting my account yet.

Thanks Madhu for sending us Yoga's snacks.

News

We have a new exchange student living with us. Her name is Anastasia, she is very nice. Unfortunately things did not work out with her host family so she is with us. She comes from France and is going back March 13.

Laura continues to have a good time in Germany. At the moment they are traveling around as the kids have midwinter break.

My good friend Cristina is in the process of bringing her Children, Elvira and Nick, to Umbria. They had been studying at the university of Turin. Unfortunately the university has been shut down till further notice because of Covis-19. I have been in touch with my cousin Andrea. All is family is well but all the schools have been shut down and they have restricted travel.

We are keeping a close eye on the situation in Europe just in case we need to bring Laura home early. Right now she is coming back on March 20.

Looking forward to seeing some of you this weekend.
