Rain

Illa, Deb, and Noah after the christening. Mac and Thomas. They are such lovely young boys. They took good care of Illa, who ran around the church during the service, but they got her where she needed to be for the important event.

The frogs are singing away. So very nice. Where do they go when it is dry and hot? We had 2 major thunder, lightening and heavy rain storms today, on in the morning and one in the evening. It has rained every day for a long time. My 2 rain barrells are overflowing. I am not prepared for that. Well, I do have the drain connected to the hose on the garden, but that certainly does not need watering. The garden has produced huge, huge, zucchini's. I did not catch them in time. I raasted them last night on the grill. Not so good, really.

We went to the Little and saw MONGOL tonight. It was good, I decided. Lots of brutal war scenes, but the characters were stong. I guess that goes without saying.

Looking forward to seeing all of our family next week!!

Switched from BMP to JPEG

So here is Escalante River canyon from above. We camped in the green part. And here is Klassie the lead goat examining some vandalized petroglyphs.

Attn: AB

Hey AB, Was wondering what the DoJ schedule of arrivals and departures is. All I'm sure of is that I am arriving inconveniently one day before we have OZ.

Still More Greetings from Utah

We're in Zion, hoping that C&S will show up. Nice hotel w/pool. And view.
Suzanne, I want you to know that goat pupils, when the dilate at night, become circular. I know this because we went out on a scorpion hunt after dark with a black light. Happily it was unsuccessful, though we scared some albino crickets. Bryce was underwhelming after having our own personal canyon for 30 hours, but Zion is really beautiful. The road in descends 2000 feet in a few miles.
I tried again to upload a picture, but I couldn't.
Happy trails.

More Greetings from Utah

Land of sporadic internet. We're having a great time. We had our goat trip the last two days. I'm trying to upload a picture of the lead goat, Klassie, checking out 13th century petroglyphs. But it'd not working.
We also had fun at monument valley, where we sprang for the extended jeep tour with a Navajo guide. This trip is mostly in pictures, and since I can't upload them, I can't seem to describe it. Off to Bryce tomorrow, which couldn't possibly be as beautiful as Escalante canyon, but probably has fewer mosquitoes.
Thanks for the b'day wishes.

Greetings from Utah

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KALYANI

Wherever you may be.
Love, K,J, E, and S. Also the two Ts.

A Post by Sam

I haven't posted in a while so I decided I should make a tribute to Tin Tin. As I started to flip through pictures of him on my phone I realized I should dedicate this post to all those who have graced My Pictures in my phone. Well just Phil, Eliza and Tin Tin.

Tin's new scarf.

Girls' night out.

After watching the Lion King, Tinny decided to return to his roots and have his hair cut as Simba, it was tough when he found out Simba is, in fact, a large feline.

Trying out the heroin chique look. It didn't stick.

Taken today, he's lookin pretty good.

Boy enters car.

Eliza and one of her nameless boy toys.

High excitement here

Some anxiety (Buster and me), excitement up the hill as they pack for their cross country adventure. They leave tomorrow morn, I think 4 or 5 a.m. They plan to drive about 12 hrs. tomorrow and the next day.

Chandran and Sara called Sat. from Galesburg, Il. They looked for info about our father in Abington, Il. where my baby book says he was born. No luck. But he did find lots of McKinny's there. Russell's mothers maiden name Betty Beatrice McKinney. They were heading over to Shannendoah, Iowa to look into mothers birth place.

My garden is growing vigorously. I picked the pumpkin flowers. I will stuff them with moz., bread with egg and flour, and saute them for h.d.'s for dinner. (Sara's recipe) I looked for potatoes. A miracle, there are actual potatoes. They are green, I left them. Advice garden guru's on the left coast?

July 4

Laura, Isaac the first great grandson & Winsome Ruth’s daughter.

the start of the Duck Race

The Biblio Barn

adjacent house

Lucy, Oliver & Henry

Anna & Chiara

We went up to visit my friend Ruth on the July 4. It was wonderful. The 4th is when her family has their traditional big gathering, so a lot of them were there and they are all very nice and lively people. The kids had a lot of fun running around; we took part in the annual rubber duck race (did not win) and stayed for dinner and fire works. On Saturday we drove to Maya and Guy’s. They were having a BBQ for friends. I think close to 20 kids were there, a fun occasion. We slept over and came home today. Another couple with their two kids also spent the nigh. Between Ruth’s and Maya’s Chandran did some book shopping. One of the books stores we visited is the Bibliog. Barn, a lovely old books store. It is currently for sale. The Sale would include the bookstore, the adjacent house and 5 acres. We did not ask the price. We are off on
Wednesday for our California trip, see you all there.

Basement Remodel

We have most of the finishing touches in place. Here is the den with a perfect spot for Brenda's burl clock and the glass storage in Ashwani's workshop.

Sorry guys.

This might be funnier in a political setting, but you might enjoy it.

A Day at the Beach.

Sofia, Daniela, Chiara, Laura, Nick and Luca.

My friend Daniela, who now lives in Milan, is visiting NY with her family. We went to Coney Island yesterday. I don’t think I have ever gone on a weekday, what a difference, the beach was practically empty. We had a great time, the kids got along very well together.

could be so beautiful. Left coast clan- should I thin my potato plants? This is my first veg. garden, I think I planted everything too close.
