Sisters

Sisters

It was an interesting week. In many ways very sad, when we closed the door to the house for the last time I cried. It was not only emotionally difficult it was physically hard, my sister and I emptied out the whole place. We divided things to be shipped to the US, the things to be sold, and we put all the things that need to be thrown out in bags, by the end of the day we were exhausted. Thank god for good Italian food and wine.
It was also a good experience; all the people who helped us with the move were very friendly, kind and efficient.
My uncle Marcello and Norma were in town so we had dinner with them and uncle Mario and Maria, it was nice to see them. We met up with Franca, and I saw her new place. It’s lovely and the nuns are sweet and charming.
Glad to be home.

R.I.P. Blub-blub

This week saw the death of the goldfish, Blub-blub. His passing is deeply regretted by his owner Hannah, who won him at the lilac fest in 7th grade (yes, 7th!), by Beast, his next-bowl neighbor, and by Ashwani, who has been remembering to feed him for years.

The Amazing picture!

Starting with the men seated: (L to R) My uncle Kittan (older brother of my mother), my father, my uncle Sama (my mother's sister Kunja's husband) and my uncle Ambi (my mother's younger brother). The wives are all next to their husbands: (L to R) Kittan's wife, my mother, my aunt Kunja (my mother's younger sister, whom we met in 1972 at her house in Woriur), uncle Ambi's wife.
Kids seated on the floor: The first two boys are uncle Kittan's sons, then my sister Echi, me (yes!) with the necklace and a paunch, my older brother Ambu (who died when he was in his early teens), my sisters Alli and Gnana. The two other kids at left are Kittan's daughter and son and the one kid on my uncle's lap on the right is his son Hari (whom we met in the apartment on Park Ave years ago and he is the one who sent this picture to Uncle Kalyanam).

College Update

This year is coming to a close. I have about 3 weeks of classes left and then exams. I am rather excited to be done. This year has been interesting. I wouldn't exactly call it fun, it is school after all. The weather has finally turned nice. I can go out doors without wishing I could go back in now. I don't even need a jacket. It's lovely. The campus has started to become more and more crowded because of the nice weather.
Everyone here is wearing green today. For Saint Patrick's Day. apparently it's a big deal here. I will be spending my day studying and then watching Merlin. Yay!! I'm super duper excited. Oh, I also found that my chem lab partner is crazy about Doctor who AND Sherlock. How awesome is that. I've missed talking about it and now I have someone to discuss it with. Yay again!!
This post is gonna be short because I really have to pee. So, schools good, I'm good, I hope everyone else is good. Something witty. I can't wait for school to be over so summer can begin.

Bert

Bert and her beautiful friend.
Bert minus all but one tail feather.

What is you all's opinion about Geese? I was at Higbies yesterday buying feed and consulting on fence possibilities. A costumer there said he solved his fox problem with geese. He has not lost a chicken since he got geese. The fencing idea is just not going to work, they would not be happy with another pen, really. They love pecking and running around their various 'pastures'. Geese can be mean, their poop is big. Evidently fox do not like them. Oh, the guy with the suggestion said, when asked, that he has 2 dogs, and the fox was not bothered by them. I did not ask what kind of dogs.
