Helloooo

Camp is going well. Phil and I broke up, which is for the best. He's going to school soon. We had a good run I guess.
Anyway, it's my day off. Great campers this week... one is a girl from Germany. She's not so happy right now but we're working on it.
Had a horrible canoe trip last week. It took us 8 hours to canoe there as we got lost (the trip back was only 2.5 hours...). When we got to the campground this dude yelled at us for being loud and called the police (who never showed up). They gave us the crappiest tents. It was just badddddd. Hopefully next week I'll be on a hiking trip.
I am not mean about the car. Zhe end.

Trip to the Whites

We had a lovely trip to Greenleaf hut in the White Mountains. The hut is at 4200 feet, so the view was earned, but I thought it was worth it. It was 2.9 miles with a gain of about 2500 ft. That night Susi and I looked down onto fireworks in the valley from the bunkroom window, which compensated us for the lack of stars. We stayed there one night. As a side benefit we were able to visit the Menons in Amherst for two nights on either side.

Here is the hut. It's above the tree line. There is a small miraculous lake just below it. I especially enjoyed the alpine flowers.

Week 4

So the weeks nearly over, it was a long one.

Sunday I found out it was Providence week, where (mostly) inner city kids from the providence day camp come up. I also found out I had four of them which is the most out of any tent or cabin on camp. They're great kids, but they swear up a storm, wander off frequently and stay up all night. But todays my day off and I'm probably going to get my hands on a copy of harry potter, because I'm only up to page 42 by reading other peoples books. Thats it, I'll be out of program and probably on maintenance again starting saturday.

Oh and mom, Elizas being mean about sharing the car.

Heres a pretty picture I took with my phone

Lake month

We, except for Eliza and Sammy (see their entries for there came news)are all 16 of us at our lake house for much of July. This day is full, Kalyani and Sara left for Stratford this morn at 6:30 a.m. . We were up to see them off. Kamala and Madhu left yesterday. Noah and Noah (Hendricks that is) are finishing their first session of Sailing camp. Noah is the instructor. A very big responsibility.

We (Chandran, me, Susi, Jo, Hannah, Chiara, Laura, Nick) are home today to prepare for the BIG Harry Potter party at Lift Bridge (our very good local bookstore). They have sewn their appropriate costumes, and are now at Lift Bridge, setting up for the gala occasion. Tomorrow will be a reading day, we have reserved 3 copies of the book.

Hopefully some pictures will follow.

Well, not this time.

Camp

So I havent written in a while because I've been pretty busy, kind of.

The first week here was staff week and that was fun, I met up with everyone from last year because we were all living in a pretty small area, then all of the JC's (Junior Counselors [our first year on staff]) including myself were split up, half were in program as counselors and half did all the other dirty work on camp.

I'm on maintenance now, I have been for a week and a half and I will be until saturday. Our boss is a mean, very southern man, who frequently disregards safety. A nail from a nailgun missed my hand by about half an inch yesterday. But the maintenance crew this summer is 2-3 times as large as usual because we are painting every building on camp, and I can honestly say that painting is one of the most boring jobs I've ever done. But the time off is nice, we work 8-4 everyday then we are off for the night until curfew at 11:30, and we get one day off a week. So I work 8 hours a day, six days a week, which here is an extremely small amount of work.

In my time off I've seen transformers and 1408, transformers was entertaining and I thought 1408 was crap. I've also been running a bit and I've been to walmart a lot lately.

George... he is soooo small and cute

Jackie & me on 4th of July

Happy 7/7/07! This past week I've been in Brockton, MA doing an urban day camp. It's been rough. Day camp itself is fun, but there's a lot of tension with the staff. In fact, yesterday I kind of flipped out at our head counselor and peaced out. This guy is supposed to be in charge of us and like our leader and I am on the phone with Phil and he says, "I heard you and Kayla were really mean to Dustin" (except instead of saying "really mean" he said something worse). So I told Dustin this and he's like "Well......" and Kayla yelled at him and I yelled at him. Last night he called me twice, neither time I picked up. By the way this kid is only like 2 yaers older than us. And he's in yellows with me and was my friend up until this point. Not anymore.
BUT ANYWAY. Home for the weekend. This is my first day off in..... three weeks. Last night I saw 'Evening' and it was not so good. I'm having lunch with Shira in like 15 minutes. Mom's in NYC with my still broken elevator.
I should say that Brockton isn't all bad. The kids are really funny and cute. I have the older kids which is great. Last year I had 10 8 year olds all to myself and I was exhausted. This year I have 7 13 and 14 year olds between my co-counselor and me and it's sooo much easier. I'm getting really good at four square.
4th of July the staff went into Boston for a supposed John Mellencamp concert. He only sang two songs. It was raining. Everyone there was drunk and annoying. Ended up going to Starbucks with my friends Kayla and Deirdre. That was GREAT. Fireworks were pretty but we wanted to leave and Dustin yelled at us for this? That's what started this whole thing. Oh and then in the parking garage at a T station he overestimated the height of the ceiling and we crashed our bus. The emergency exit door thing on the top of our short bus came off. There is a constant alarm that we can't figure out how to turn off because of this so every time we go anywhere there is this high pitched buzz. Yayyyyy.

This is for Barbara

Well, this posted picture was finally posted on my own, without by friends and relatives telling me each step at a time. AND it is easy.

Perfect weather here. Sara, Chandran, Chiara, Laura and Nicky arrived yesterday. Kalyani, Noah and Susi are up in the Whites. Madhu showed good improvement for the physical therapist this morning. The twins are napping, Han and Jo and Chiara have gone to the store with Popop and Chan. Sara is walking on the path. All is quiet! I think we may go to the lake tomorrow.

Day of the Jackal

After Noah's graduation on the way to the BBQ Dinasaur for lunch.

Sara helped this, maybe now I can put up images.

We are back from Tanglewood. Did anyone listen to the Garison Kielor Show show? It was good. We had a nice time. The 6 mile drive from Lee to Tanglewood took us 1 !/2 hours. You can imagine that scene for us. After a 1/2 hour into the show, I got over it.

Sara and Chan, Chiara, Laura and Nicky are here, hooray!

Hey everybody I got my report card yesterday!! I don't Know whats on it though because MOM miss placed it. All I know is that I got 2 B's and the rest A's, naturally. I can't wait till wednesday because that means our dentist appointment already happened so I won't have to worry about it, and oh yeah mom and them are coming back too. Valderee, valderah

Noah, Susi, and I are off to the White mountains to hike up to Greenleaf hut. We went to Greenleaf and its neighbor, Galehead, with the Isons in high school. I remember it as the coldest experience of my life, and I've been winter camping. However, today I'm very excited to go. We'll stay with the Menons on both ends, and return on Wednesday. Wish us good weather!
