Sad News

We had to put Tucker to sleep today. He had been off for a few days and then this morning he couldn't move his hind legs. The doctor said it was probably a disc in his spine that had herniated and was pressing into his nerve column. . She did not recommend surgery as she felt the chances of success were less than 50% and that surgery for a dog his age would be too invasive. It was a very peaceful end.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHANDRAN

This morning, I went to iphoto to select a picture of Chandran for todays blog.  I had iphoto open and I was scrolling, then I hit something, do not know what, and I have not been able to find ANY iphots since.  There is just nothing behind the file.

Anyway, I hope your exam is a good one, and you have a nice dinner with Sara!

College Update

Today marks the last day of my fall semester of my senior year. It was actually rather uneventful. One of my classes was cancelled, so I got to have a late start. I filled that time with a skype date with some people and also coffee, always coffee.
It has been a rather long time since I posted last. So what's new with me? Well, I recently started a tumblr. I also ventured to downtown Guelph for the first time since first year. I don't like downtown very much. I also made myself dinner at home, granted it was just a turkey sandwich, but I made it myself so it counts. I did my laundry at school, that was fun I guess. Our wasp problem seems to have disappeared, which makes coffee in the morning less terrifying. Not a lot has happened here.
I kinda figured since I haven't written here in awhile I'd have more to say. Guess I was wrong. Oh well.
  Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Short trip to Saugerties

Went up to Saugerties on Saturday.  Chiara stayed back in the city with the pets. She had a Drama Club performance. The house looked good, the stream was full. We met with a landscaper. Very nice woman, she showed us her current project a B&B near us and then her own garden.

We then drove over to Rhinebeck amd stayed over with Guy. Maya and the girls were visiting in Hamilton.

Halloween Weekend

At Laura's soccer game
Janice and Madhu came for the weekend. It was great to see them. Junu joined us for dinner Friday night. Nicky went trick or treating by himself, Laura was at a sleepover with her friends Coco and Ashna, Chiara was not interested, so I took him in the building. He did not want to go outside, he felt he had enough candy. On Saturday we met with Coco and Ashna's parents at Dinosaur BBQ in Brooklyn. On Sunday we met up with Maya, Guy and the girls for brunch. We then went to Laura's soccer game. Madhu, Nicky and I only lasted for the first half, it was very cold and they play by the Hudson river. Janice stayed for the rest of the game. Laura's team won 3-2. Madhu and Janice left yesterday and Noah arrived a few hours later. He is in NYC for a few days for an interview.

Lake House Bath Room Renovation

Our carpenter, Rick, broke the bath tub in 'millions' of pieces to haul it out.  It is make of iron (or steel)
covered in porcelain.  There were 2 layers of board under our visible floor covering, before what you see as the floor in the picture.  The second one was soft.  Both removed.  Rick has removed the knotty pine top layer to the left,  as the new shower is about 1 &1/2 inches wider than the tub was.  He hopes that will help make room,  space is a premium.

He will build some shelves, but we are going to wait to see what the space looks like before making the design.

Today was the first day of soccer for Laura. She was not happy to pose for the photo as you can see. The photo of the Hommel house was sent to me by our site supervisor, Carole. Things are looking good.

College Update: Senior Year

Today was the first day of classes. I only had 2 classes, 5 hours between the them. This morning was applied animal behaviour with Dr. Georgia Mason and Pet nutrition with Dr. Jim Atkinson or something. Both of the profs are extremely british. The voice in my head now sounds very much like Emma Watson. I enjoyed both classes. The one with Dr. Mason looks interesting. We are going to look into why animals do things. The other one will be about what we should feed our pets, primarily cats and dogs.
I moved into my new house on Sunday, Heather had already moved in, but was in Ottowa at the time of my arrival. The other 2 girls, I'm going to assume sisters, moved around 8pm Monday night, but left around 2am with their mother. I have not seen them since, but I think they came back around midnight last night.
I am currently getting over a cold so I'm going to cut this short because I have a short attention span. If you have questions, ask Susi. She'll probably know the answer.

No more red door.

Chiara & Laura on the first day of school.
Chiara and Laura started school yesterday. Laura was very nervous about starting at Steiner. I think the day went well as she was in a good mood after she came home.

Chiara took part in the rose ceremony.  This a a lovely ritual at Stainer. The 12 grade students take on a buddy in the first grade class. At the beginning of the year they give the child a rose. At the end of the year the child gives them a rose.
