Updating the blog from 37,000 feet in the air! They have wi-fi on airplanes now.

Flew from Savannah to Atlanta to Boston. Landing at 2:45.

Brave Rocky

I was shoveling a path to the hen house, I turned around and there was Rocky, breast deep in the snow. I picked her up and carried her back to the coop.

The corgi

Today I ran into my dog walking buddy, Erick, who has a corgi named Rudy. He told me that on Wikipedia he had found some interesting things about the breed. So I looked and this is what I found:

Welsh folklore says the corgi is the preferred mount of fairy warriors. There is also a folk legend that says corgis were a gift from the woodland fairies, and that the breed's markings were left on its coat by fairy harnesses and saddles.....They specialize in herding cattle, corgis are also used to herd sheep and Welsh ponies. They are also one of the few breeds able to herd geese.

Welsh corgis also guard children.

a.) Mom did not record the sad passing of the hen Alvina. She was egg-bound, we think. She laid those beautiful big greenish speckled eggs.
b.)Sad news for Ilze Bullwinkel, but happy for us: An opossum got into her chicken house and killed her good rooster. So she took Teddy!
c.) Hannah made Dean's list.
d.) Su and Grant are coming to visit this weekend.

We had a great trip.

Happy New Year All! 1/1/11

Madhu and I went to the lake and stayed over. The ice on the lake is fantastic. We went into Medina and had dinner at Zambistros. All of our buckets of water we had drawn to have handy for the toilet and winter use were ice, duh! The snow has mostly melted.
