I have loaded a lot of Orkney pictures to flickr, but I still have an entire island to go. Also London. In the mean time, here are some favorites so far.
We rented bikes in Sanday.
Stones of Stenness
B&B hosts John and Shirley with "the lasses". They have six "grandbairns". We liked them a lot.
Papa Westray
Doorway of a neolithic house in Papa Westray. This is the oldest house in the western hemisphere.
We had a lovely walk in Papa Westray.

Looks fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Also, watching the Tonys-fun to see the Stratford peeps.
"The oldest house in the Western Hemisphere." That's remarkable!
That rocky spire is really cool too.
The spire is a deliberately planted standing stone.
Also, it's VERY remarkable that the Knap of Howar, located in the UK, is the oldest house in the western hemisphere. Perhaps I meant something else.
It was occupied from 3700 to 2800 BCE. Actually, I think it's the length of occupation rather than the earliness that's remarkable. Well, it was a nice spot. But then, it was the nicest May weekend Orkney has seen since record keeping began in 1857, so that may have influenced us in its favor. Favour?
periac 15Wow, great weather!
I've added our day in Rousay to flickr. Great stuff.
