Chiara's school is closing for a week. The upper school closed yesterday after eight 7th-graders were out with (regular non-swine) flu, and the lower school closed today. Too many kids absent. Chiara would be grateful for suggestions on how to spend her free time.

Chiara's school is not the only one, I know of one other.
that was me.
My advice for how to spend the time: go visit the pigs at the zoo. They are probably feeling embarrassed (how do you spell this word!) about causing so much trouble, and would appreciate some positive reinforcement.
On a pleasanter note, we had a high speed chase of an 18 yr old bank robberstarting in Newton ending w/a shoot out in front of the house of one of my kids (the robber was grazed). Never a dull moment in Lexington!
Chiara could learn to make duct tape wallets. Susi sold her first today--$5!
Kam, when you say "one of my kids" I'm assuming you mean a pre-schooler.
Send her to Brockport!
Yes. My kids are still living at home. It was the home of a family that just had their third child last Thursday. She opened her door and heard gunshots/ hid in the basement. Oh well, that's life in Lexington.
I'm with Popop, send her to Brockport!
Kalyani, is the "Shouts & Murmurs" piece in this week's New Yorker written by Nelie's sister?
I didn't see it. Ann Hodgman, no 'e's, very funny?
Yes: Ann Hodgman, and funny (reading group questions)
The readers' guide to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is also quite interesting.
"Is Mr. Collins too fat and stupid to notice his wife's gradual transformation to a zombie...?"
"Some critics have suggested that the zombies represent the authors' views toward marriage-an endless curse that sucks the life out of you and just won't die."
I thought shoot outs only happened on places like Mountain View Road, certainly not in sophisticated town like Lexington.
