Rome V

We had a great time today at the Vatican. When we arrived at St. Peter's, I was pretty amazed by the line, and we began to revise our 'no guide' policy. Then we met a lovely Venezuelan girl from Miami, very persuasive, and before you know it, we were plugging in our earpieces. This turned out to be a good plan, because the guide was really pleasant and funny. When crossing the street, she told us to look straight ahead and "don't let the drivers know you're afraid to die". The rest of the party were pleasant, also, one couple from Venice, so everything was in two languages. We were almost 4 hours with her.

Was worried about Jim this morning as it turns out that the Phillipines are in the Pacific Ocean (thank you google maps) and I couldn't get through on the phone. Was able to text (the greatest tech development in communication lately INMHO). And he is fine-no impact in Manilla.

I agree. Glad he is well.

My friend Tomoko said that they felt the earthquake. They are well but her husband was stuck at work.
