Yes, finally!!

3 eggs!! In the nests, as hoped for. Three in one morning, at 5 1/2 months. Those chickens were so smart to figure out where they were supposed to lay them. The eggs are small, that is as the book says could happen at first. I am happy.

Sorry to post the same day as Sara's lovely post. But, I figure everyone wants to hear this news. Even you Sam??

I will wait until others lay their eyes on them first!

I can hardly wait! I feel that our butter will not be up to the standard. Let's make butter.

Hmmm...maybe we should get some hens...

If you can figure out how to get just hens, I'd like to know about it.

We had a rooster that decided to try some of the dog's food and that was the end of him.

Kly-Jane got all hens by choosing the Sexling variety of chicken-apparently so-called because they are easier to "sex". However, they are not as picturesque as Mom's.Also, Mom, are you really wanting Don to murder Iggy?

I think that Teddy should retain the name given him by those who DON'T wish him dead.

OK, Teddy it is. I was not attacked by him today. I was using my walking stick. He stayed close behind me, but did to fight me. Could he recognize that as a power implement? It was Ilze's idea. Do we eat murdered food?

i think if you kill him, you should eat him.

Yea, we should, but we will do neither. Teddy and I have come to an understanding, and unless he tries to kill me again, we will enjoy each other. He is tending his hens. I have come to understand that, and when I go out with my walking stick, he leaves me alone. As Kly says, he is alright in the hen house and their fenced yard.
