A very interesting article
I'm trying to decide whether I like this style of politics better than what we were used to, or not.

New Books
Today I went to my local bookshop and the owners gave me two books (free). They are bound galleys that are sent to bookstores in advance of publication. One of them is Jhumpa Lahiri's new book, not due out till April. I am very excited! I feel very lucky-it is such a nice store.
Eliza and Sam's girlfriend, Trish, will be here for the weekend. Enjoyed the video of Susi drumming, wish it was longer.

Italy
The place were we stayed in Italy last time, Villa Tafania, Is not big enough for us all. The Woman who owns Villa Tafania also has a place in the Village of Barberino. This place sleeps 16 and looks wonderful.
Janice has found another place also between Florence and Siena in the Chianti region. that also looks wonderful. There are good things about both places. Kalyani and I were wondering if the village house may be more fun.. I would also like to know what the kids think about it.
Here are some photos of both places with their web sites
This is the Palazzetto in Barberino
You can check it out at two web sites. the first one shows a floor plan the second one has more images

i'm at school!
No classes today, or any Tuesday. I went to bed at 10:30 last night and woke up at 1 today... heh. My roommates really nice, and so are a couple of my suitemates. I'm going to Target with one of them in like 5 minutes. The other suitemates I've barely talked to or even seen. This weekend I go home to get my car. It would've been nice to have had it today.. I've been pretty bored the past 2 hours. Everyone's been at classes.

Birthday Party
We celebrated the twins birthday today. It was a small event made even smaller by one cancellation and one no show. Actually it made it very pleasant. All the kids got along and the group was so small we did not even need to arrange activities. We had art supplies out as well as some fun toys. Nick and Laura’ s friend Milei came with her mom , Tomoko and Maya and Guy came with the girls. Nick and Laura were very happy with their gifts and the cake. Laura no longer cries when happy birthday is being sung, in fact she rather enjoys it now.
Maya and Guy and the girls are off to India on Friday.

Yet again, tired of youtube
So, we are packed and ready to go. We leave at 6:30 am tomorrow. Have to first pay off at the bursar's, then move in, then attend orientation. After that, Jim and I will drive back into CT. Have booked cheap hotel next to Rein's Deli, which is better than any deli restaurant I, personally, have been to in NYC (including Carnegie, which was very good-have not been to Katz). We will have dinner and breakfast there. Jim is planning to order tongue. He had asked me about it, and I love organ meat so I was all like, "Ok I'll cook some". Then I looked up the recipe and it starts w/ boiling it for two hours , and then "peeling the skin off", so I balked. Will let you know about CW Post-Eliza's roomate spells her name Graycie. (Jim wonders what kind of cereal is available for breakfast).

Reasons that I regret locking myself out of my room
1. Getting let back in costs either a voucher or $5. Because I stole several vouchers at the beginning of the year, I still had one.
2. I was on my way to the shower when I realized, so I didn't even get to enjoy it. I had to worry the whole time about being locked out.
3. Because I was on my way to the shower I only had a bathrobe and a towel. Neither of these are adequate clothing.
4. The only ways to get back in are by finding an RA or by getting a replacement key at the student union type building. There wasn't a single RA in the building.
5. It was snowing outside. I didn't have shoes.
6. I borrowed some sandals from this Singaporean kid and waked to the Appel service center to get my key.
7. I still have to return the key. Knowing my I'll forget to and incur some ridiculous late charge.

Girl Resting
I took this photo of Joanna on Christmas day. She looked so much like a painting that I made the photo look like one.
Last night we went to the Memorial for Claire Flom. It was a lovely occasion. She was an incredible person, very inspiring. The memorial was held at Metropolitan Club, very beautiful. A lot of the movers and shakers of high finance were there, quite a crowd.
Nick has been evaluated (psych, speech, O.T., behavioral!). He'll get some services, like speech, but he's mostly doing fine.

Important Message from Jo rocks
I have my solo fest tomorrow. I have to miss book club. Tear!! The thing I hate about solo fest, apart from actually playing is dressing up. I don't know what to wear. Mr. Stoker says I'll do good so I'm not too worried. I've practiced everyday this week. It's weird there is no snow, but it is way cold.

Hair Cuts
Nick and Laura got a hair cut today. They started school yesterday, Laura was very happy to see her friends again, Nick less so. Their teacher was not there and both Chandran and I are hoping she will be gone for a while. A speech therapist is coming on Thursday to evaluate Nick and on Friday he will be getting the psychiatric evaluation. We have decided not to have Laura evaluated at this time. We will probably get private speech therapy for her, hopefully with the same person who helped us out with Chiara.
Poor Chiara will have a very difficult day tomorrow. It will be the second day of her ELA and she has a test at one of the private schools, after that she has an appointment with the dermatologist for the wart on her foot. The silver lining is that she will get to have dinner at Blue Smoke.
Noah I am sorry we forgot to wish you a happy birthday yesterday.

Look, a legit post
This weekend, Dad, Noah Hendricks, Dr. Kolano and I went down to Ithaca to see a couple Cornell hockey games. We're staying at the Super 8 conveniently located directly next to the Ithaca Wegmans. Why is it called Super 8? Does anybody know? Anyways, last night Cornell won 6-0. Tonight, we won 4-3. They changed their forecheck game and it really shut us down. Luckily we're still really good. Dad and Dr. Kolano went wine tasting while Noah and I sat in the car and played with the electronics. We're going back tomorrow.

Tired of The Angry Baby
Once again, I find I have to post just to get rid of the previous post being the first thing you see. (Noah!!) We had a great Christmas and New Year. The highlight was Aunt B and Uncle D's arrival. Was sorry to have put on the mascara (which I do maybe 4 times a year) because looked like a racoon the rest of the night. Drumming was great. Nice visit to the Lake (complete w/ fascinating commentary from Don on the drive) .Back home, had a very pleasant New Year w/ good friends-great dinner and played Cranium, actually stayed up till 12 and after. Today is Eliza's last day as a teenager!! I will have a 20 year old "child" tomorrow!
