I am seriously considering declining the presidential education award and writing a letter saying the same. I was going to decline the comptroller's award but, since Alan Hevesy was forced to resign and Spitzer nominated a Republican, I don't necessarily feel that I am against the office. I would keep the award worth $100 if it were from Karl Rove himself.

You may have a point about declining the Presidential award. I offer my qualified support.

It came with a letter directly from the mighty prince. But, a.) it had been photocopied, and, b.) it contained no amusing mistakes, so I guess it doesn't affect the decision either way.
I think that it is best to take the broad view: it was given by the man who happens to be the occupant of the White House and you should accept it as such. Returning it or making a negative response will serve no useful purpose. Given his record, he won't notice the significance of the gesture anyway; he is a mule that is totally immune to any adverse comments.
