We had a fantastic trip tp Old Fort Niagara. I'll let Susi tell you about it. Here are pictures, though. Above is Susi with the two ladies who helped the kids make dinner. We had bread from their very old wood-fired oven and stew over the fire. Then the kids cleaned up. We had the fort to ourselves from 6 p.m. until 9 a.m. It's a very beautiful spot, where the Niagara River meets the lake.
Here Susi is pretending to load the cannon. They drilled the girls until each one knew every command, and then they did it for speed. Private Koram explained that we couldn't use live rounds, as we hadn't signed a death and dismemberment waiver, which he has. He recommends the French-and-Indian encampment in July.
This is the barracks. We slept here and on the floor. I chose the floor. We brought sleeping bags. The fort was built by the French in 1759.
I am missing a picture. More to follow.
